Meet the Bay Area’s next big name in jazz.

Basilisk is an acid jazz fusion band based in the California Bay Area. Their music blends hip hop drums, lush chordal textures from Rhodes pianos, and organs with ripping synth and horn harmonies. They take huge tonal inspiration from bands like Jamiroquai and Butcher Brown.

Before Basilisk, the band studied jazz composition and performance together at the Santa Rosa Junior College under the accomplished saxophonist Bennett Friedman. Farther back, twin composers Robbie and James Paterson grew up playing music together with drummer Owen Sieberling after their paths crossed in fourth grade. It wasn’t until the summer of 2025 when Robbie enlisted college friends Jade Solomon and Andre Louviere (saxophone, trumpet) that Basilisk was born.

Since then, Basilisk has played at private parties, bars, and music venues all around Sonoma County. They made their radio debut on August 29th, 2026 at KRCB with the demo tapes for their songs “Calistoga” and “Flow State.”
